Podiatry is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment  of disorders involving the feet, ankles, and structures of the legs that  attach to the feet and ankles. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.)  spend four years of post-graduate medical training followed by residency  training on the foot and ankle.
